Playboy #1 (HMH Publishing, 1953) CGC NM- 9.2 Off-white pages. It's been six years since we've offered a copy of the first issue that's this nice! Not surprising when you consider that CGC has certified just three other copies in higher grade than this sparkling example. The cover colors are simply stunning, the snow-white background spotlighting Marilyn Monroe perfectly. Inside she's the nude "Sweetheart of the Month" featured on a two-page poster. There's also a Big Band article on Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey, "VIP On Sex" by famed cartoonist Virgil Partch, and fiction by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Sherlock Holmes). What an auspicious launch of a new magazine! Not listed in Overstreet. CGC census 9/22: 2 in 9.2, 3 higher.CGC Grader Notes:
