World's Greatest Songs #1 (Atlas, 1954) Condition: VF. This comic is a real treat! It's rated "scarce" by both Gerber and Overstreet. The concept was to illustrate the lyrics of popular songs, and receiving this treatment were "Young At Heart," "The Star Spangled Banner," "Cielito Lindo" (in English, no less) and others. Among the other features is the life story of Eddie Fisher, illustrated by Russ Heath. Heath wasn't the only big-name artist involved: Dan DeCarlo, Dave Berg (called "Davy" here), Vince Colletta, Al Hartley, and John Forte also contributed. As the highest-graded CGC-certified copy of this book is only a VG+, this may well be one of the finest copies in existence. Overstreet 2004 VF 8.0 value = $240. From the collection of Bobby Harmon.
