Red Ryder Comics #1 and 3-13 Bound Volume (Dell, 1940-43). The first meeting of Red and his sidekick Little Beaver, beautiful line-drawn covers by Fred Harman, and a scarce copy of issue #3 of the title are among the highlights of this collection of Western Publishing file copies that have been trimmed and bound into a single hardcover volume. Included are copies of Red Ryder Comics #1, #3 (reprints of Alley Oop, Captain Easy, Dan Dunn, Freckles and His Friends, King of the Royal Mounted, and Myra North strips begin here), 4, 5, #6 (the first Dell issue), 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. The volume is in nice condition with moderate wear to the spine, some loose hinges, mild soiling, and a little corner bumping. The comics themselves are in great condition, with bright, glossy covers and supple pages that exhibit only a mild to moderate amount of tanning. A great item for one lucky fan of Harman's famous cowboy. Overstreet 2006 VG 4.0 value for group = $1,370.
