Our Army at War #1 Bethlehem pedigree (DC, 1952) CGC VF 8.0 Cream to off-white pages. This newly certified copy is by far the nicest we've seen of this first issue! The runner-up in the current CGC census is the FN- 5.5 copy we sold for $956 in our last auction. And since we're talking about the first issue of the longest-running war title of all time, you'd have to say all the above makes this one of the most desirable war books we've ever offered. The title ran for 36 years, with a name change to Sgt. Rock for its final decade. Carmine Infantino drew the cover for this first issue, and Gil Kane, Irv Novick, and Frank Giacoia contributed interior art. Overstreet 2007 VF 8.0 value = $1,275. CGC census 10/07: 1 in 8.0, none higher. From the Keith Marlow Collection.
