    Description

USA Comics #1 (Timely, 1941) CGC VG/FN 5.0 Cream to off-white pages. This early Timely is often found on many a collector's want list, and much of the excitement over the book has to do with the bizarre, action-packed Defender cover by no less than Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. The book's stellar line-up includes the origin and first appearances of the Whizzer, Jack Frost, and Dr. Emil Frank. Other appearances of note are Mr. Liberty, and Rockman, whose story is graced with wild art by Basil Wolverton. Other artists include Al Avison, Al Gabrielle, Syd Shores, and a very young Carmine Infantino. Overstreet 2010 VG 4.0 value = $2,280; FN 6.0 value = $3,420. CGC census 1/11: 3 in 5.0, 18 higher.
