USA Comics #1 (Timely, 1941) CGC VF 8.0 Off-white to white pages. Nice copy of an issue that's not been CGC-certified higher than VF/NM 9.0. The famed Joe Simon and Jack Kirby duo created one of the more memorable WWII Nazis-as-monsters cover for this issue -- months before the US entered the war -- and also contributed story art, along with Basil Wolverton, Al Avison, Al Gabriele, and Syd Shore. The issue had the origin and first appearances of the Whizzer, Mister Liberty, and Rocketman, the first appearances of Jack Frost and Dr. Emil Frank, and the only appearance of the Young Avenger. Overstreet 2011 VF 8.0 value = $8,250. CGC census 8/11: 5 in 8.0, 4 higher.
