    Description

World's Finest Comics #5 (DC, 1942) CGC VF 8.0 Off-white pages. One glance at this book's great-looking spine made us suspect that this had to be one of the highest-graded copies, and indeed only two have topped it as of this writing. This issue may have the first appearance of TNT and Dan the Dyna-Mite, though it was on newsstands at the same time as the duo's outing in Star-Spangled Comics #7. And let's not forget a patriotic cover by one of the best at that genre, Fred Ray. Note that a small plastic stabilizing peg is loose inside the CGC holder, not affecting the comic itself or the integrity of the holder. Overstreet 2006 VF 8.0 value = $1,644. CGC census 3/06: 1 in 8.0, 2 higher. From the Collection of Harold Curtis.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
