Whiz Comics #18 Mile High pedigree (Fawcett, 1941) CGC Apparent NM+ 9.6 Moderate (P) Off-white to white pages. Fawcett's best-known superhero battle was a face-off between Captain Marvel and Spy Smasher that extended over three issues, and this is the issue with the final showdown! Why were two good guys fighting each other, you ask? Because Spy Smasher had been brainwashed by a bad guy called the Mask, and turned evil! That famed fight rages through the Captain Marvel feature (with C. C. Beck art) and the Spy Smasher story (drawn by Charles Sultan). The issue's cover is by Beck. Restoration or no restoration, we're confident in calling this Mile High copy the best available specimen of the issue. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, pieces added, tear seal, reinforced." Overstreet 2005 GD 2.0 value = $131; VG 4.0 value = $262; FN 6.0 value = $393; VF 8.0 value = $819; VF/NM 9.0 value = $1,260; NM- 9.2 value = $1,700.
