Description

Top-Notch Comics #22 (MLJ, 1941) CGC VG- 3.5 Slightly brittle pages. A house ad for Pep Comics #22 appears in this issue which bears the identical cover date of December 1941. That makes this one of the first places that Archie was ever seen in print! "Archie begins in the Dec. issue of Pep Comics. You'll laugh till the tears roll down your faces," the copy reads. The Archie angle aside, this is also desirable because of its scarcity; in fact, it made our recent list of the 10 rarest MLJ issues. We hadn't sold a copy in 13 years. The cover features the Black Hood and the Wizard and is credited to Al Camy. CGC notes, "Tape on interior cover." Overstreet 2018 VG 4.0 value = $180. CGC census 8/18: 1 in 3.5, 2 higher.

CGC Grader Notes:
light pieces out to cover
light tears to cover
moderate creasing to cover
moderate spine stress lines to cover
