The Marvel Family #1 (Fawcett Publications, 1945) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Cream to off-white pages. This is only the second copy of this issue we've seen with a certified grade above VF- 7.5. It's an increasingly hot book due to its featuring the origin and first appearance of Black Adam, whose film debut (starring Dwayne Johnson) arrives in July. The Promise Collection copy in Near Mint 9.4 recently fetched a staggering $186,000! Fair warning: this book may soon be out of reach for even the fiercest collector. The origins of Captain Marvel, Captain Marvel Jr., Mary Marvel, and Uncle Marvel are retold. C. C. Beck cover and art. CGC notes, "very minor amount of glue on cover and first wrap." Overstreet 2021 VF/NM 9.0 value = $13,600; NM- 9.2 value = $19,000. CGC census 1/22: 3 in 9.0, 2 higher.
