    The Human Torch #2 (#1) (Timely, 1940) CGC VG/FN 5.0 Off-white pages. An attractive mid-grade copy of a key Golden Age Marvel book that doesn't often appear in high grades or in unrestored condition. This was technically the first issue of the title (originally called Red Raven). The cover is by Alex Schomburg, with interior art by Carl Burgos, Bill Everett, and Joe Simon. The Torch's teen sidekick, Toro, is introduced, and the Falcon, the Fiery Mask, Mantor the Magician, and Microman make their only appearances. The origins of the Human Torch and Sub-Mariner are told in text. CGC notes, "Very minor amount of color touch on cover. Very minor amount of glue on spine of cover" Overstreet 2011 VG 4.0 value = $6,500; FN 6.0 value = $9,750. CGC census 4/12: 3 in 5.0, 22 higher.
