    Description

The Human Torch #2 (#1) (Timely, 1940) CGC FN 6.0 Off-white to white pages. This is one of those Golden Age keys that seems to turn up in purple labels more often than blue labels. Well, here's a very solid unrestored copy of the book that currently sits at #32 on Overstreet's list of the Top 100 Golden Age Comics. It has the first appearance of the Human Torch's sidekick Toro and an Alex Schomburg cover. It's also the first issue of the title (formerly known as Red Raven). Interior art by Carl Burgos, Bill Everett, and Joe Simon. The Falcon, The Fiery Mask, Mantor the Magician, and Microman make their only appearances. The origin of the Human Torch and Sub-Mariner are also told in text. Overstreet 2014 FN 6.0 value = $9,000. CGC census 11/14: 4 in 6.0, 24 higher. From the Estate of William J. Miller.
