Target Comics #7 (Novelty Press, 1940) CGC VF+ 8.5 Off-white pages. Stranded on the silent planet, Space Hawk prepares to pummel the space alien in this classic science fiction cover. A purple moon rises slowly behind the sparse landscape as Space Hawk's muscles tense and strain to crush the bizarre reptilian monster. The eccentric unsung genius of comics, Basil Wolverton, who drew only twelve covers, created this magnificent one and only cover appearance of Space Hawk. The interior includes a Space Hawk story by Wolverton, along with stories by Timely greats Bill Everett and Carl Burgos. If you want a Wolverton cover, and this is widely regarded as his best, then you have only a few comics to choose from. And there are so few copies of this comic in existence that even Overstreet notes that the book is scarce. Do not kid yourself in thinking that you will have another chance to get such a sharp-looking, strictly-graded copy with white pages. This book is insanely difficult to find. According to the CGC census this is the second highest graded copy with only the Mile High grading higher. Overstreet 2002 VF 8.0 value = $2,925.
