Superman #1-12 Bound Volume (DC, 1939-41). A copy of the iconic issue #1 leads off this superb bound volume, featuring the first 12 issues of the series which is still going strong some seven decades later.
The classic cover to #11, which was used on a U.S. postage stamp, is just one of the many other highlights contained here, in a volume that extends from the Summer of 1939 to September 1941. The book has a red binding with the title printed in gold on the spine. And as always with bound volumes, the comics were slightly trimmed on three sides as part of the binding process.
The back cover of each issue was removed as part of the binding process; otherwise, each issue is complete. The cover of issue #1 shows one large area of paper loss to the top right corner and a smaller one near the spine, and there are a few pages from #6 that have pulled loose from the contents; otherwise, the comics are in overall very nice condition with surprisingly little wear and bright glossy covers that exhibit some mild to moderate tanning; the pages are supple with overall mild to moderate tanning and no signs of chipping along the edges.
Acquiring a run of all 12 of these issues in similar condition would cost well into six figures and take a fair amount of time as well. Each of the issues in this volume is a prized rarity, making this fantastic collection a dream item for Super-fans. Overstreet 2010 VG 4.0 value for comics = $73,628.
