Description

Red Raven Comics #1 (Timely, 1940) CGC VG- 3.5 Cream to off-white pages. Lasting only one issue before changing to The Human Torch, Red Raven Comics has the first appearance and origin of the Red Raven with cover and artwork by a young Jack Kirby! In fact, this rare book is Kirby's first signed work. A Gerber "7," only 21-50 copies are estimated to exist. Other features inside are Comet Pierce and Mercury by Kirby, the Human Top and the Eternal Brain, as well as the introduction and only appearance of Magar, the Mystic. It's impossible to overstate the importance of this key Timely comic. Tears at the top staple and spine roll are the primary defects; the cover inks are remarkably clean and bright for the grade. Overstreet 2002 GD 2.0 value = $1,038; FN 6.0 value = $3,114.
