Phantom Lady #17 (Fox, 1948) CGC VG 4.0 Pink pages. Matt Baker's classic cover for this issue makes it one of the most sought-after of the series. It certainly did not escape the critical eye of Fredric Wertham, who spoke of its "sexual stimulation by combining 'headlights' with the sadist's dream of tying up a woman" in his controversial exposé Seduction of the Innocent. At the time this book was printed, Fox Features was using the cheapest paper that they could get their hands on, hence the unusual pink pages. Naturally, this classic is one of Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics. Overstreet 2024 VG 4.0 value = $5,850. CGC census 8/25: 11 in 4.0, 64 higher.
