    Description

New York World's Fair Comics 1940 (DC, 1940) CGC VF- 7.5 Off-white to white pages. It's worth noting that many of the top pedigree collections did not have a top-drawer copy of this book, for example Larson (6.0), Mile High (5.5) and Crippen "D" Copy (3.5). Also, while most copies we've seen (pedigree or otherwise) have had some sort of writing on the cover, this does not.
This cover was the first time Batman, Robin, and Superman all appeared together, and it's also the first published comic work by Jack Burnley. We believe it's also the first time any of these characters were drawn by someone besides their creators (or the creators' studios at any rate). Also, while the 25¢ World's Fair comic of the previous year was a flop, this one at 15¢ was a hit, and led to the long-running World's Best -- World's Finest series. Appearances include Hourman, Johnny Thunderbolt, and Red, White, and Blue. CVA notes this as an exceptional copy for the assigned grade. Overstreet 2018 VF 8.0 value = $7,000. CGC census 11/18: 5 in 7.5, 2 higher.
