    Description

New York World's Fair Comics 1939 (DC, 1939) CGC FN+ 6.5 Light tan to off-white pages. Of note on this early comic is the first published appearance of the Sandman and a towheaded (blond) Superman on the cover masthead. The Art Deco cover is by "Vin" Vincent Sullivan, with interior art by Creig Flessel, Fred Guardineer, and Bob "Batman" Kane. Quite a book, from the dawn of the Golden Age of comics. Note that the price sticker was put on by DC, who dropped the price from 25 cents. Also of note is the fact that only five copies have topped this on CGC's current census. CGC notes, "Price sticker on cover." Overstreet 2014 FN 6.0 value = $5,100; VF 8.0 value = $12,750. CGC census 11/14: 2 in 6.5, 5 higher.
