Description

National Comics #1 (Quality, 1940) CGC Apparent VG+ 4.5 Moderate (P) Cream to off-white pages. One of Quality Comics' most important Golden Age issues features the first appearance of Uncle Sam. With a Lou Fine cover, plus interior art by Will Eisner, Reed Crandall, Dan Zolnerowich, George Tuska, Charles Nicholas, and John Celardo, this issue boasts a virtual Who's Who of notable Golden Age artists. This copy looks so much nicer than the assigned grade, with very crisp cover colors. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, tear seals, spine split sealed, reinforced." Only two unrestored copies have been certified to date by CGC, the best graded a modest 4.5. Overstreet 2003 VG 4.0 value = $1,008.
