    Description

More Fun Comics #53 (DC, 1940) CGC FN 6.0 Cream to off-white pages. The Photo-Journal Guide to Comic Books gives this book an "8" or "rare," and high-grade copies can be numbered on one hand without using the thumb! One of the most legendary of the Golden Age titles has a lineage predating even Action Comics and Detective Comics. This is the second most valuable issue in the entire run of 127 (for you purists, #1-6 were titled New Fun Comics) owing to the second appearance of the Spectre, who comes out in costume for the first time since the splash page tease of the previous issue. Currently ranked #27 on Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics list, the issue has a Bernard Baily cover and interior art by Baily and Bob Kane. CGC notes, "Centerfold detached." Overstreet 2014 FN 6.0 value = $9,750. CGC census 11/14: 1 in 6.0, 4 higher.
