Description
Miss America Comics #1 (Timely, 1944) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Off-white pages. Timely's two-fisted female crimefighter known as Miss America was the star of her own series for 14 years, yet this is the only comic issue ever to be devoted entirely to her! After this initial comic, the title was converted to Miss America Magazine with issue #2, featuring a mix of articles, photos, movie reviews, and some comics. In fact, Marvel's teen queen Patsy Walker was introduced in issue #2. Miss America had originally been featured in the back pages of Marvel Mystery, as a young woman who had been super-charged by a strange invention. Ken Bald, who would go on to greater success with newspaper strips like Dr. Kildare, provided the art, including the great pin-up cover illustration.
