Marvel Mystery Comics #9 (Timely, 1940) CGC FN 6.0 Cream to off-white pages. It's been nearly 15 years since we last offered a copy with a higher grade from CGC. The Human Torch and Sub-Mariner come to blows on this classic cover by Alex Schomburg, the second to feature the Sub-Mariner, and the related story was the middle chapter of an epic three-part battle between the two heroes-turned-rivals -- the first great superhero battle in comic book history.. Story art is by Bill Everett, Carl Burgos, Paul Gustavson, Al Anders, and Irwin Hasen. Both Overstreet and The Photo-Journal Guide to Comic Books list this book as "scarce", and it is currently #35 on Overstreet's list of Top 100 Golden Age Comics. Overstreet 2024 FN 6.0 value = $17,100. CGC census 8/25: 4 in 6.0, 5 higher.CGC Grader Notes:
