Marvel Mystery Comics 132-Page Issue with Variant Interior (Timely, 1943) CGC FN+ 6.5 Cream to off-white pages. At the top of many Timely collectors' wish lists is this super-rarity from 1943. CGC has certified just five copies to date, with this being the highest-graded copy so far (the others top out at VG+ 4.5). The back cover of this copy is remarkable -- naturally a blank surface is eminently smudgeable and every other copy we've seen has clearly shown how many hands have handled it -- no such problem here! In general, this copy has survived as well as one could ever hope for a comic this thick.We have previously offered two uncertified copies of the issue: one in 2006 in VG+ that realized $28,680; and another uncertified copy in 4.0 in 2007. This is a giant 132-page square bound, with blank inside covers. The interior features Captain America Comics #22 and Marvel Mystery Comics #41 in their entirety. According to Overstreet and CGC, these contents represent a variant, though every copy that has passed through our hands has the contents mentioned above. Alex Schomburg's cover is just another reason to covet this one. Overstreet does not yet list values for the "variant" copies. CGC census 1/12: 1 in 6.5, none higher.
