Jackpot Comics #1-8 Bound Volume (MLJ, 1941-42). The first cover appearance of Archie was on Jackpot Comics #4, and some have even wondered whether the issue could have predated Pep Comics #22 (this issue is dated Winter 1941 while the Pep issue is December 1941). This is most likely either the second or the third Archie story. Jackpot #5 has another key Archie moment, the first appearance of Reggie. And of course Archie appears in #6-8 as well, alongside superheroes like Steel Sterling, the Black Hood, and Mr. Justice. The front covers of these issues look perfect, though the inside front covers have a bit of tanning. The page quality is off-white for the most part, though a couple of issues have cream edges. All pages are supple. As is customary for bound volumes, the comics have been trimmed in the binding process, though the trimming is minimal. As prices for Archie Comics and Pep Comics have taken off lately, expect Jackpot to soon follow suit. Overstreet 2011 VG 4.0 value for group = $3,248.
