Green Lantern #1 (DC, 1941) CGC VG/FN 5.0 Cream to off-white pages. The first issue of Green Lantern's solo title is ranked by Overstreet as one of the top 20 of the Top 100 Golden Age Comics of all time. The hero had more than earned his own book after successful appearances in All-American Comics, and this issue started a long and successful run -- except for taking the 1950s off, along with most every other superhero. Green Lantern has been in near-continuous publication from the 1940s through the present day. The origin of Alan Scott, the Golden Age ring bearer, is retold in this issue, which features a cover by Howard Purcell and interior art by Green Lantern's creator Martin Nodell. The issue is a Gerber "7" or "scarce." Overstreet 2012 VG 4.0 value = $6,000; FN 6.0 value = $9,000. CGC census 5/13: 4 in 5.0, 31 higher.
