Flash Comics #4 (DC, 1940) CGC FN/VF 7.0 Off-white to white pages. One of the most obscure heroes from DC, the Whip (also known as El Castigo) makes his one and only Golden Age cover appearance (not counting insets) on this fourth Flash Comics issue. For fifty-five issues, the Whip helped rid Mexico of evildoers, much in the manner of Zorro. Also in this issue, Sheldon Moldoff begins his long run on Hawkman. This attractive, unrestored copy is among the best known examples of this early issue. Overstreet 2005 FN 6.0 value = $1,269; VF 8.0 value = $2,790. CGC census 7/05: 3 in 7.0, 2 higher.
