    Detective Comics #39 (DC, 1940) CGC VF- 7.5 Light tan to off-white pages. The highest-graded, blue label copy we have ever offered! It, of course, features Batman, and only the second appearance of his trusty ward, Robin (aka Dick Grayson). The issue contains a rather racy opium story, and the first appearance of Clayface is on the last page of the Batman story. Contains a full-page ad for Batman #1. Jack Lehti, Fred Guardineer, Bob Kane, and Jerry Robinson art. Overstreet 2019 VF 8.0 value = $7,400. CGC census 8/19: 4 in 7.5, 3 higher.
