    Description

Detective Comics #32 Billy Wright pedigree (DC, 1939) CGC FN+ 6.5 Off-white to white pages. The sixth appearance of Batman is unknown in high grade (the two copies above this one on CGC's census are both 7.5). The fact that Batman isn't on the cover tells you it's an early issue. And indeed, the early Golden Age Batman was a bit different from the later character in some respects -- not only does he use a gun in #32, he shoots two villains while they're asleep! Overstreet calls it the "first time a costumed hero used a gun in comic books." Cover art by Fred Guardineer. Overstreet 2011 FN 6.0 value = $2,757; VF 8.0 value = $6,709. CGC census 2/12: 2 in 6.5, 2 higher.
