Detective Comics #31 (DC, 1939) CGC FR 1.0 White pages. This classic-cover issue has cracked the top ten of Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics list. And no wonder: everyone seems to be looking for a blue-label copy, and nobody who owns one seems to have any inclination to sell. And even though the Guide value went up quite a bit, we still find it conservative. For comparison's sake, a Poor with no back cover sold for $11,711 at Heritage one year ago. Includes the first appearances of the Batplane and the Batarang, and also the Monk, Batman's first super-powered foe. Cover art by Bob Kane. CGC notes, "Spine of cover completely split and re-attached with tape. Cover and 1st wrap detached." Overstreet 2014 GD 2.0 value = $11,000. CGC census 11/14: 3 in 1.0, 35 higher. From the Estate of William J. Miller.
