    Description

Detective Comics #31 (DC, 1939) CBCS Restored (Extensive Professional) NM+ 9.6 Off-white to white pages. Batman's third cover is a classic, and just about as iconic as his first in issue #27 of this title. You may never see a copy with greater all-around eye appeal than this beauty, considering the rarity of any non-restored copy that earns as much as a VF 8.0! Besides the classic cover by co-creator Bob Kane, the issue also has the first appearances of the Batplane, the Batarang, Julie Madison, and Batman's first super-powered foe, the Monk. The issue is currently second to only #27 in value and is tied for #10 on Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics list. Kane, Sheldon Moldoff, and Fred Guardineer provided interior art.
This artistically accomplished, professionally restored comic book appears to be the product of many hours of intricate artisanship once unseen on the vintage comic book market. CBCS notes, "Professional Restoration Includes: Moderate color touch & pieces added to cover, pieces added to interior, cover & interior reinforced, spine splits sealed, tear seals, cover & staples cleaned, interior lightened." Overstreet 2019 NM- 9.2 value = $325,000.
