    Description

Captain Marvel Jr. #1 (Fawcett Publications, 1942) CGC VF 8.0 Cream to off-white pages. Less than a year after first appearing in Whiz Comics, Captain Marvel Jr. got his own title, while still starring in Master Comics. Drawn in the graceful style of Mac Raboy, rather than the cartoonier C. C. Beck style, this new title quickly picked up a staunch following. Raboy's cover for this first issue is a "classic" says Overstreet. The title character's origin is retold in the issue, in a story that features an appearance by the nefarious Captain Nazi. We have previously auctioned only one other copy (the Pinnacle Hill copy) of this Fawcett key that has been graded higher, and that was a barely better 8.5! Overstreet 2014 VF 8.0 value = $4,146. CGC census 8/14: 5 in 8.0, 4 higher.
