Description

Captain America Comics #2 (Timely, 1941) CGC VF 8.0 Cream to off-white pages. Captain America didn't care for the Nazi plans of world domination, and he took his grievances straight to the top -- for the second cover in a row, he faced off with Hitler himself! The cover, by Joe Simon, sees Bucky in trouble (as usual), and it's the debut of the round shield, which Cap is now known for (he lugged a less aerodynamic model in his debut issue). The interior artists include Simon, Jack Kirby, Al Avison, Al Gabrielle, and Reed Crandall. This issue is listed at #43 on Overstreet's Top 100 Most Valuable Golden Age Books, and it appears to be harder to find in high grade than its predecessor. Overstreet 2012 VF 8.0 value = $14,235. CGC census 2/13: 3 in 8.0, 9 higher.
