This issue marked the first appearance of Cap's round shield, which quickly became iconic in the world of comics. The cover story and art are by Simon and Jack Kirby, with additional story art by Al Avison, Al Gabriele, and Reed Crandall. Currently #50 on Overstreet's list of Top 100 Golden Age Comics.
