Description
Captain Aero Comics #1 (Holyoke Publications, 1941) CGC FN- 5.5 Cream to off-white pages. Also known as V1#7 (bizarrely enough), this issue has the first appearance of the titular hero. While Overstreet once noted that the title was "cashing in on the popularity of Spy Smasher and Captain Midnight," this series' slam-bang covers were more action-packed than those of the rival aviators. This one's by Charles Quinlan of Catman fame (there's even a Catman appearance on the back cover at no extra charge). Jim Steranko notes that the interior art by Ray Willner is "well drawn in the Alex Raymond tradition," that's high praise indeed in our book. Overstreet 2006 FN 6.0 value = $501.
