Batman #1 (DC, 1940) CGC VG+ 4.5 Cream to off-white pages. The revered issue, already #6 on Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics list, continues its assault on another iconic Golden Age issue -- Marvel Comics #1. It's conceivable that within the next 2-3 years, it will rank #5. Don't let the seemingly modest grade fool you; there are only 24 known nicer copies according to CGC's census, and 25% of those are bunched just a notch above our offering at VG/FN 5.0. A comparable 4.5 copy just sold for over $75,000 in our most recent Signature auction! The Joker and the Cat (aka Catwoman) made their first appearances in these pages. Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson teamed up for the cover and interior art. Overstreet 2014 VG 4.0 value = $44,000. CGC census 5/15: 3 in 4.5, 24 higher.
