Batman #1 (DC, 1940) CGC VG- 3.5 Off-white pages. It's one of the Top Five comic books by value ranking on Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics list, and it has appreciated in value from 2023 to 2024 more than any other issue among the Top 50, and copies routinely fetch more than Guide! CGC has certified just as many restored copies as Universal, and well over half of the Universals have been graded lower than our offering. It's been nearly a year since we've seen a higher-graded copy! Besides being the premiere issue of the historic long-running title, there are two other comic firsts -- the first appearances of the Joker and the Cat (aka Catwoman). Co-creator Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson created the classic cover and story art. The other co-creator Bill Finger provided the scripts. Please note that the darker area seen at the right side of the back cover is the plastic inner well wedge CGC would sometimes use in holders of that era. CGC notes, "Tape on most of spine and 2 pieces on interior cover." Overstreet 2024 VG 4.0 value = $173,000. CGC census 5/25: 6 in 3.5, 56 higher.CGC Grader Notes:
