Description

Batman #1 (DC, 1940) CBCS Restored VF- 7.5 (Moderate) Off-white pages. Within a year of Batman's first appearance in Detective Comics #27, he had proved sufficiently popular to warrant his own title. The premiere issue gave us this classic cover by Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson, as well as the first appearances of the Joker and the Cat (Catwoman). CGC has certified just 10 copies that have earned Universal grades nicer that 7.5, and only 22 unrestored copies have earned higher grades. It's currently #6 on Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics, and recent years have seen its value increasing appreciably. CBCS note Amateur Restoration Includes: Small amount of color touch on cover, pieces added to cover, cover & centerfold reinforced, spine splits sealed, tear seals, cover & staples cleaned. All 3 edges trimmed." Overstreet 2016 GD 2.0 value = $25,000; VG 4.0 value = $50,000; FN 6.0 value = $75,000; VF 8.0 value = $170,000.
