Description

Amazing-Man Comics #5 (Centaur, 1939) CGC Apparent FN- 5.5 Extensive (P) Cream to off-white pages. Don't let the issue number fool you -- this is actually the first issue of Amazing-Man, featuring the title character's origin and first appearance by Bill Everett. Well-known artists Carl Burgos and Tarpe Mills also contributed to the issue. Centaur Publications' entire output is difficult to find, this book especially so -- Overstreet and Gerber both rate this issue as "rare," with an estimated 11 to 20 copies still in existence. Only six copies of this comic have been certified by CGC to date; with only one unrestored book graded above GD+, this restored specimen is obviously one of the better copies in existence. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, pieces added, tear seals, cover cleaned, interior lightened, reinforced." Overstreet 2004 GD 2.0 value = $1,375; VG 4.0 value = $2,750; FN 6.0 value = $4,125.

CGC Grader Notes:
Center Back Cover Stain
Center Interior Multiple Stain
Left Center Front Cover Heavy Readers Crease
