All-American Comics #17 (DC, 1940) CGC VF+ 8.5 Off-white to white pages. DC icon Green Lantern made his second-ever appearance in this issue! And the book is just as "scarce" as the character's first appearance in #16 according to Gerber, who gave both books his "7" rating. Overstreet ranks this issue among the 100 most valuable Golden Age books. GL is drawn by Sheldon Moldoff on the cover; inside the comic the character is rendered by his creator, Martin Nodell. The backup features include Mutt and Jeff, Red, White and Blue, and Sheldon Mayer's Scribbly. This is the highest-graded copy of the issue, and the only one graded above FN/VF, that CGC has certified to date. Overstreet 2004 VF 8.0 value = $9,608; VF/NM 9.0 value = $15,054.
