    Description

All-American Comics #16 (DC, 1940) CGC GD/VG 3.0 Slightly brittle pages. Currently #5 on Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Books list, it conceivably could be catching #4 Marvel Comics #1 in the foreseeable future. The VF 8.0 Billy Wright copy we recently offered brought 50% over guide! Why? Besides giving us the origin and first appearance of Green Lantern, this issue is notoriously short in supply. Overstreet gives it a "rare", and The Photo-Journal Guide to Comic Books awards it a "7" or "scarce". The seemingly modest grade here looks better when one considers only two copies have earned higher than FN 6.0 from CGC to date. Sheldon Moldoff provided the cover with creator Martin Nodell giving us the GL story art. Overstreet 2012 GD 2.0 value = $18,333; VG 4.0 value = $36,667. CGC census 7/12: 1 in 3.0, 16 higher.
