Adventure Comics #40 (DC, 1939) CGC VG+ 4.5 Off-white pages. The front cover eye appeal of this book goes well beyond what the grade would lead you to expect! There's no front-cover marking or smudging of any kind, and when we placed it next to the 8.0 copy in this same auction this copy held up pretty well. Of course, we're talking about one of the top 15 books in the hobby, and one that has a reputation for being tougher to find than most of the other major keys. It's the Adventure debut of the Sandman, with striking cover art by Creig Flessel. CGC notes, "1 piece of tape on interior cover." Overstreet 2011 VG 4.0 value = $12,500. CGC census 4/12: 2 in 4.5, 9 higher.
