Description

Action Comics #70 (DC, 1944) CGC VF+ 8.5 Cream to off-white pages. The unusual nighttime cover scene by Jack Burnley really makes this issue stand out. In the Superman story inside, mob figures go on a crime spree only to be thwarted by... Clark Kent? Other superhero stories in the issue include the Vigilante, Congo Bill, Zatara, and the Americommando (the latter with Bernard Baily art). Possibly due to the mostly-black cover, not many top-grade copies are known; only two have been graded higher than this one by CGC to date. Overstreet 2004 VF 8.0 value = $575; VF/NM 9.0 value = $863. CGC census 1/05: 1 in 8.5, 2 higher.
