Action Comics #15 (DC, 1939) CGC NM 9.4 Off-white to white pages. An unparalleled copy that sits at the top of the CGC census! Of the nearly 70 unrestored copies that they have certified, this is one of four with a grade of VF 8.0 or better. It is also by far the nicest copy we've had the opportunity to offer, beating out the FN/VF 7.0 Billy Wright pedigree copy. Yes, you read that right -- the best copy we had offered in our history up to now is seven grade increments lower than this.This book arrived very early in the Golden Age -- its August 1939 issue date indicates it hit the stands a mere two months before Marvel Comics #1! Fred Guardineer provided the cover, which was only the fifth Action cover devoted to Superman (the prior ones being #1, 7, 10 and 13, and he was shown in inset images on #12 and 14). Story art is by Guardineer, Joe Shuster, Bernard Baily, and Bob Kane. This issue is currently one of Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics. Overstreet 2024 NM- 9.2 value = $65,000. CGC census 10/25: 1 in 9.4, none higher.
