Action Comics #10 (DC, 1939) CGC GD/VG 3.0 Brittle pages. Talk about a tough book! Just the third cover appearance of the Man of Steel, this is just the second blue label copy that we have offered and it's just the fifth copy that we have ever seen of this early Superman issue. Only eight copies have topped this one on CGC's census. In the issue, Clark Kent gets himself assigned to a chain gang to expose a corrupt prison warden. Joe Shuster did the aerial Superman cover and added interior art for the book, while Fred Guardineer, Sheldon Moldoff, and Bernard Baily rounded out the rest of the super-issue. A splash panel inside was used as the art for the cover to Superman #1. Includes a COA from the Charleston Pedigree Collection. Overstreet 2014 GD 2.0 value = $8,333; VG 4.0 value = $16,666. CGC census 2/15: 3 in 3.0, 8 higher.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
