    Description

Strange Adventures #1 (DC, 1950) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Off-white to white pages. This unique cover is one you can recognize from across the room thanks to its hybrid photo/grey tone look. This key first issue of the long-running series contains an adaptation of "Destination Moon," with a preview of the movie. With stories by Edmond Hamilton, David Reed, and Gardner Fox (who are credited on the cover, a rare honor for writers), this seminal issue got Strange Adventures off to a good start -- good enough that it would eventually become one of the most successful sci-fi titles of the 1950s. The additional attraction of art by Dick Sprang (of Batman fame) didn't hurt either. Overstreet 2005 VF/NM 9.0 value = $3,420; NM- 9.2 value = $4,800. CGC census 7/05: 4 in 9.0, none higher.
