    Description

Phantom Lady #17 (Fox Features Syndicate, 1948) CGC FN- 5.5 Pink pages. Overstreet notes the classic Matt Baker bondage cover on this issue. The striking image did not escape the critical eye of Fredric Wertham either as he spoke of this book in his Seduction of the Innocent study. He wrote of "Sexual stimulation by combining 'headlights' with the sadist's dream of tying up a woman." When this book was printed, Fox Features was using the cheapest paper that they could get their hands on, hence the pink pages. Overstreet 2006 FN 6.0 value = $1,656. CGC census 8/06: 2 in 5.5, 13 higher. From the John McLaughlin Collection.
