Pep Comics #22 (MLJ, 1941) CGC GD+ 2.5 Cream to off-white pages. The first appearance of Archie! This key Golden Age book has been climbing up Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics list for years, and currently holds down the #9 position. It's a difficult find in any grade, and even at GD+ 2.5, only a few copies have earned a higher grade from CGC to date. The superhero cover by Irv Novick gives no hint at what makes this issue particularly valuable -- inside is the first appearance of Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, and Jughead Jones. Bob Montana handled the Archie art. Overstreet 2018 GD 2.0 value = $27,000. CGC census 11/18: 4 in 2.5, 8 higher.
