    Description

New Fun Comics #3 (DC, 1935) Condition: VG+. The third comic issue DC ever published, and the first science fiction cover ever in comics. Printed in a large 10.25" x 15" format, making mid- to high-grade copies almost impossible to find. In fact, any copy is tough to come by, as Gerber rates the issue an "8" or "rare" on its Scarcity Index. Overstreet notes, "... early (maybe 1st) DC letter column." We're told that in the earliest days DC would lower the print run for each issue after #1, awaiting sales numbers, and would then either increase the print run with issue #4 or phase out the title. That would help explain why this very collectible third issue is so hard to find! Overstreet 2019 VG 4.0 value = $5,772.
