    Description

All Sports Comics #2 Mile High pedigree (Hillman Publications, 1948) Condition: NM. This is the first time we had seen this issue, and after examining this beautiful copy with amazing page quality, any other copy from here on out will just be a letdown! This is the first issue with this title (#1 was called Real Sports). The great football cover shows a previously unknown side of Dan Zolnerowich, whom we know for his Fiction House work. Equally surprising is a contribution by Bernie Krigstein! Also, Bob Powell illustrates one of the great sports stories of all time, that of Notre Dame's George Gipp (aka the Gipper). Leonard Starr drew a feature on boxer Jem Mace and one on the history of football. There's also a look at the pitching staff (or rather, "moundsmen") of the Philadelphia Athletics. Overstreet 2006 NM- 9.2 value = $415.From the John McLaughlin Collection.
