    Description

Marvel Mystery Comics #10 File Copy (Timely, 1940) Qualified FN 6.0 Cream to off-white pages. The first Human Torch-Sub Mariner battle, which raged through issues #8 and #9, concluded in this issue. There's also the first appearance of Terry Vance, Schoolboy Sleuth. The issue's artists include Alex Schomburg (cover), Carl Burgos, Bill Everett, Paul Gustavson and Bob Oksner. This copy bears the stamp "Property of Funnies Inc." -- that was the "shop" that produced many Golden Age comics, early Timelys in particular. The shop existed for over 20 years, with names as diverse as Everett (the art director), Wayne Boring, Carmine Infantino, and Mickey Spillane passing through. Their office copy of this book can be yours. CGC notes, "Glue on spine, 12 tiny holes through cover and pages, from a bound volume." Overstreet 2004 GD 2.0 value = $724; VG 4.0 value = $1,448; FN 6.0 value = $2,172.
